Today's GrokIt:
Know how to drive a stick? If not, it may be too late!

Is the stick shift dead? If so, what are the reasons?

No its not because there are still so many car brands that still have a stick shift.
When I was a kid, the stick was king!
Driving a stick was the ultimate statement in demonstrating your driving ability and showing off some major street cred. And all of the cool cars were stick only, triumphs, mgs, alfas, datsun z's.
Today, you'd be hard pressed to even test drive a manual transmission. Only a few jeeps and some of the most inexpensive cars with tiny engines still have them.
Doesn't really make sense to spend 70 or 80 grand on a luxury car and have to change gears yourself, even if it's a maz or an alfa. Seems like the end of an era.
Long live the stick shift!

i dont think that we should let it die. it looks cool to drive with a stick
I think that we shouldn't let the stick shift die. People are getting more reliant on automatic transmission in their cars and should the popular system fail we would have to rely on those manual snobs who know how to drive a stick shift. God forbid that we as a society get to reliant on technology to a point where cars can drive themselves and we wouldn't need to learn how to drive anyways. By the time I learn how to drive stick, we will have flying cars and inter-dimensional travel.
Audi kills its manual-transmission cars i think people like a automatic cars because there much easier than stick shift . stick shift is complicated
i think it is really cool that we are moving on to something new even tho I prefer cars that are manual since u can go way faster
i dont have experience driving but the stick shift looks wayyy more complicated than automatic
