As I was reading this article, some seemingly random ideas popped into my head:
-I like the example of when personal photography became popular with the arrival of inexpensive cameras. Instead of restricting the technology, laws were made to protect people from it's abuse, like when the paparazzi harass celebrities to steal their image.
-Is it an advantage that law enforcement can use facial recognition to identify you as you walk into a sports arena or theater. Where will it stop when you go shopping at the mall or at Market Basket?
-If people are so concerned about being id'ed on Facebook then just don't use it.
Facial Recognition seems an amazing way to use technology to provide advantages to or even enhance our day to day life. But will it also be used in some nefarious way, to keep track of us somehow our whereabouts, where we go or what we do. I guess only time will tell!

i think that facial recognition would be something to be worried about as well as something to not be to worried about because if you use face recognition in my opinion your dumb because i dont believe that that actually works and what if you get your face punched in and then later cant even get into your phone anymore then you'd be assed out and on top of that the privacy i dont know where that picture is actually going after i supposedly get recognized into my phone what if a scammer receives that picture or someone that shouldn't be getting it id much rather use a pass code or touch id where i know my info isn't being stolen over a picture and know im actually safe.
i reallly dont think we have to worry about this yet but in the future when it is more advanvced maybe we will hae to be
I feel like that new FB update is cool because now I will know when someone posts a picture of me.
"Like many tools, face recognition can be used for good purposes — like helping people securely unlock their mobile devices, log into their bank accounts and make digital payments. It can help people organize their photos and share them with friends. It’s even being used to find missing and kidnapped children and to help officials confirm whether travelers have authentic passports."
This is why I feel like Face ID is a nice addition to our world.
The text says, "It’s even being used to find missing and kidnapped children and to help officials confirm whether travelers have authentic passports." This will help us with security, however it would be concerning if there is a racial bias in the identification and interpretation of individuals.
In my opinion I find this new Facebook update somewhat pointless because I dont use Facebook as much as I used to, but hey if it helps lazy people "COUGH COUGH BRYAN" log into their profile im all for it. But i like that fact that Face Recognition helps the police find felons and criminals because I would want to feel safe in at an event that im at. I like the Facial Recognition because it helps us find criminals but I feel weird that they can track our whole day and they could kidnap us if they wanted to. And i could only imgine the crime rate after this sky rockets.
In the article, it says "securely open mobile device or bank account" which sounds good, but people can use a picture of you to do that as proven with the iPhone. Another thing that was proven was an identical twin accessing your private information. Something good would be Facebook letting you know when someone posts a photo of you, this way you can see the photo, and decide whether or not you'd like them to remove it.
