I feel like taking Tay offline was a good idea exemplifying the fact that Tay posted some offensive tweets. Tay can come back improved and hopefully it will work and get popular throughout time. I think the apology was well deserved for the people that got offended by Tay, and even though embarrassment arose from Microsoft, they did the right thing by apologizing and immediately took Tay offline.
Crazy that a ChatBot would say insane things on the Internet, just like it's users.

Augmented reality is already something that brings neat visuals to everyday TV, like the yellow line of scrimmage in a football field that really isn't there.
This thing sounds more like a marketing gimmick than hard AI, but the point remains. You are dealing with a personality whose goals and motivations are not necessarily those of Microsoft's marketing department which is probably a good thing.

Microsoft didn't need to apologize for the offensive tweets by tay because people were asking inappropriate questions that made tay sound bad.
